M11 Duxford, Grange Road – bridge repairs and resurfacing work

I am writing to tell you that we plan to carry out bridge joint repairs and road resurfacing work to the Grange Road Overbridge, Duxford which runs over the M11 motorway. These works are needed to ensure the overbridge remains in a safe and serviceable condition.

We plan to complete this work over five nights starting on Monday 19 October 2026. We will work between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the M11 Grange Road Overbridge in both directions and divert traffic as follows:

Westbound – Duxford towards Chrishall Grange:

  • Traffic should take Grange Road to the junction with Hunts Road and Ickleton Road
  • Turn left onto Hunts Road
  • At the roundabout at the end of the road, turn left on A505
  • Continue on the A505 through the M11 junction 10 Interchange, taking the second exit
  • Continue on the A505 through Duxford Airfield
  • Turn left for Chrishall Grange and continue on the single carriageway
  • Turn left onto Grange Road and continue ahead to resume your journey

Eastbound diversion – Chrishall Grange towards Duxford:

  • Traffic should take Grange Road towards Chrishall Grange and at the end of the road turn right onto the single carriageway
  • At the end of the single carriageway, turn right onto the A505
  • Continue on the A505 through Duxford Airfield
  • Continue on the A505 through the M11 junction 10 interchange, taking the second exit
  • At the next roundabout, turn right onto Hunts Road
  • Continue on Hunts Road to the junction with Grange Road and St Peters Street, then turn right onto Grange Road to resume your journey

Please note that there will be no emergency vehicle access through the road during the work.

Important roadworks information

M11 northbound junction 12 exit slip road – drainage and CCTV investigation work

I am writing to tell you that we plan to carry out drainage and CCTV investigation work on the M11 northbound junction 12 exit slip road. Once complete, the road will be able to better disperse surface water and will be less prone to flooding.

We plan to complete this work over three nights starting on Friday 23 October 2026. We will work between 8pm and 6am only, weather permitting. 

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the M11 northbound junction 12 exit slip road, and divert traffic as follows:

·       Traffic will continue northbound on the M11 

·       Exit the M11 at junction 13

·       At the traffic lights turn right onto Madingley Road 

·       At the roundabout turn onto Queens Road

·       Then turn right onto Newnham Road

·       Then turn left onto the A603 Barton Road and follow to the M11 junction 12.

Emergency vehicles will have access through the work with caution.
