The Lawn is situated in the centre of the village and is most probaly the biggest asset of the village.
The Lawn is ‘home’ to the Whittlesford Cricket Club, Whittlesford Football Club, Whittlesford Warriors, and Whittlesford Tennis Club.
The Lawn itself (ie the land) is owned by the Parish Council, however the Parish Council takes no credit for its remarkable maintenance and upkeep by a Committee of Trustees better known as The Lawn Trust.
Trustees and Committee members are all volunteers who give up their time to provide us with this wonderful village amenity.
The majority of the Trustees and Committee members are from the various Sports Clubs and Parish Council Representatives.
The Parish Council has a close working relationship with the Lawn Trust to ensure it is financially secure and pays an annual maintenance grant to the Lawn as a contribution to its upkeep.
The Lawn also provides a very substantial Children’s play area which is monitored regulary and safety inspected annually.
The current Chair of the Lawn Trust is Richard Redman, and Ian Beeby is the Lawn Groundsmen who keeps the lawn in tip top condition.
The Lawn Trust are often looking for volunteers to join their committee and if you feel you can give a little time then please get in touch.
